Should I take multi-vitamins?

opti-men.jpgA debate has raged on the last several years over the benefits of multi-vitamins and whether not you should take them.  However, there has been very little debate on the safety and effectiveness of multi-vitamins — most people concedes they are helpful.  When combating mineral or vitamin deficiency, multi-vitamins can supplement your body with nutrients it’s currently lacking.

Who should not take multi-vitamins?
Are you able to eat several, well-balanced meals every day without fail?  Do you meet your daily servings of meat, dairy, fruits, vegetables, etc?  If so,  you probably don’t need any additional supplementation as you’re acquiring all the vitamins and minerals you need from your diet.

Who should take multi-vitamin?
Who should take a multi-vitamin like Opti-Men Multivitamin?  Probably most people.  Those that workout everyday or a few times a week may be staying healthy, but they may also be neglecting nutrients that their body needs if they don’t eat properly.  A good saying goes, “Even the healthiest people in the world need a good multi-vitamin.”  It’s so true.  Regardless if you workout and eat well, if you’re neglecting to eat all of your daily servings of a potential food group, your lacking a vitamin or mineral.

Aside from lack of a well-balanced meal, stress can actually have a negative effect on the body.  Stress actually has the ability to diminish the nutritional value of the food we eat.  So, even if you didn’t think you needed a multi-vitamin above because you took your time to eat properly and workout daily, you may still have stress — relationships, work, school, etc are the big culprits.

So, did you decide whether you want to consider taking a multi-vitamin or not?  Again, just because you’re healthy doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider taking them.  Even if you’re the perfect weight and eat fruits and vegetables all the time, you still may not have enough of a certain vitamin — and it could be negatively effecting your body.
